About me

“My name is Josanne Kruis, and I have been in love with Greece since my teenage years. At the age of seventeen, I left for a gap year in Kos, where I fell in love with a Greek man. That relationship wasn’t successful, but I did live for a few months in Thessaloniki, Athens, and Kalamata. In the years that followed, I worked thirteen summer seasons as a tour guide across Europe while studying in the Netherlands.

Among other places, I worked in Ibiza, Mallorca, Kos, and Crete, spending most of the seasons on the Greek islands. Because I worked with young people through the travel organizations My Way and Club Escolette, I have no shortage of exciting stories. In hindsight, it was one big adventure book that I look back on with pleasure.”

Love for Travel & Greece

“After my studies, I continued as a full-time tour guide for another five years, covering all seasons. ‘Summer followed by winter, but at some point, it became quite tough. I thought that if I kept this up 365 days a year with all the nightlife troubles included, I wouldn’t make it to fifty. So then, with a heavy heart, I started a ‘real’ job: at thirty, I ended up in education. However, at the School of Tourism, because I wanted to pass on my love for travel and adventure to students. Not long after I met the father of my children and still my very good friend Rens.. We run our businesses in the Netherland and we got 2 beautiful daughters together.  After being a lecturer at the School of Tourism for ten years, I have been the owner of a homework and tutoring center in Noordwijk for several years.  Now i am the proud owner of a house in Milatos by the sea & a company called CRETE BOHEMIAN LIVING. Rens still got  CRETE CONSTRUCTION. He assists Dutch and other foreigners wanting to buy and renovate houses in Crete because, through all our experiences here, we now understand how things work in Crete. And believe me, it’s not that simple given the bureaucracy.

Since i sold my teaching company in the Netherlands last March i moved to Crete and live in Milatos the whole year around now. Together with my dog a rhodesian ridgbe back called Olli.  My 2 love of my life daughters are studying in Belgium medicins and the other one starts now with Law .
